Bulgaria presents its own pavilion at the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change for the second time, transmits BTA.
COP29 – the twenty-ninth edition of the forum, begins today in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, and will continue until November 22.
Events in the Bulgarian pavilion
In line with the main program of SOR29, the discussions of the Bulgarian pavilion are aimed at securing the finances necessary to combat climate change and adapt to it, competitiveness with zero carbon emissions, decarbonization of clean technologies, green initiatives for the region of South-Eastern Europe.
Separate panels in the program are dedicated to the role of women in climate finance, as well as the place of scientists and universities and their cooperation in the fight against the climate crisis, and also artificial intelligence in early warning systems.
The events of the pavilion are organized in cooperation between the Administration of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, the Ministry of Environment and Water, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Green Transition Fund, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".
Among those invited to participate in the discussions are high-ranking representatives of Bulgarian departments, representatives of the authorities of Greece, Moldova, Romania, structures of the European Commission, financial and multilateral institutions, business leaders, non-governmental organizations and scientists.
Bulgaria's first participation in the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai in 2023 (COP28) was assessed by the then Minister of Environment and Water, Julian Popov, as extremely successful.
