Trump declared himself the winner and snapped: Leave the oil to me

Donald Trump has announced that he has won the US presidential election. He did this before waiting for the final vote count. At this point, the Republican nominee leads Kamala Harris by 266 to 205 electoral votes. 270 votes are needed to win. Fox News was the first to announce a final victory for the former president, 277-226.

Trump and vice presidential candidate JD Vance appeared before supporters in Palm Beach, Florida. The Harris camp seems to admit defeat - the Democrats asked their supporters gathered in front of the headquarters in Washington to disperse. The acting vice president also declined to speak today. Her statement is expected tomorrow.

Trump's expected victory would make him the 47th president of the United States.

Historic success

A possible victory would make Trump only the second president to return for a second term in the White House after previously being defeated in re-election. So far, only Grover Cleveland, Democrat of New York, has done so. He won a contested victory in 1884. Four years later, he lost on electoral votes, although he won the popular vote. Cleveland was nominated again in 1892 and decisively defeated Benjamin Harrison, to whom he had lost four years earlier.

"We have overcome obstacles that no one thought we would be able to overcome. This is a political victory the likes of which our country has never seen. I thank the American people for this extraordinary honor. I will fight for you, for your families. We also won the popular vote, and we got control of the Senate. We also have a new star – Elon, Elon Musk! He's a great guy, he spent three weeks in Philadelphia campaigning. He's a super genius. I love you, Ellen," Trump said in Palm Beach.

Trump: Leave the oil to me

Donald Trump has promised to give Robert F. Kennedy Jr. an important role in overseeing health policy in his administration.

“He's a great guy and he really wants to do some good things. We'll let him do it. But as for the oil… Bobby, leave the oil to me… Bobby, stay away from the liquid gold. We have great resources, more than Saudi Arabia, more than China. I'll be fine with oil," Trump said.

International reactions

After Donald Trump declared that he had achieved a "political victory never seen before", the reactions of politicians around the world were not long in coming.

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said:

"Congratulations to Donald Trump on winning the election. The United States is an important strategic partner for Austria. We look forward to further expanding and strengthening our transatlantic relationship to successfully address global challenges together."

Matteo Salvini, Deputy Prime Minister of Italy and leader of the far-right League party noted:

"In the United States, a victory for common sense, passion and the future." Good luck in your job, President Donald Trump."

And Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Trump:
