Julian Popov and Ekaterina Zaharieva are Bulgaria's candidates for European Commissioner

Julian Popov and Ekaterina Zaharieva. This was decided by Dimitar Glavchev's caretaker government at its first meeting.

"I want to clarify that meeting with all the candidates nominated by the parliamentary groups, I found that they are at an extremely high level and in this regard I want to thank the parliamentary groups for their serious attitude towards this case. Our decision was difficult. We have looked at many additional criteria that may have an impact, but we have mainly stuck to the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, the EC President's letter and the candidates' biographies. For this reason, we made this decision fully convinced of its rightness", said acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.

In addition, she was Minister of Justice in the second government of Boyko Borisov (from 2015 in place of Hristo Ivanov until 2017) and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the third government of Boyko Borisov (2017 - 2021). ).

Bulgaria can get an Energy department in the European Commission

Bulgaria can get an Energy department in the European Commission. Politico claims this, citing an anonymous diplomat.

According to the source of the authoritative publication, France has unofficially expressed the opinion that it will support Bulgaria to receive the energy sector.

Politico's information also states that Bulgaria would like Ekaterina Zaharieva to be Commissioner for Regional and Cohesion Policy, which would give her the opportunity to control the European Regional Development Fund, which accounts for a third of the EU budget.

However, if our country is entrusted with the energy sector, the commissioner will be Julian Popov.
