The Union of Brewers supported the extreme K3 Ultra marathon in the Rhodopes

The second edition of the most picturesque K3 Ultra Golden Border Race in our country took place on September 26, 2020 in the golden capital of the Rhodopes - Zlatograd. The organizer of the extreme race is the K3 Ultra Association, supported by experienced figures of the first ultra marathons in Bulgaria and many volunteers from the Zlatograd area.

The Union of Brewers in Bulgaria was also a partner of the sports event. The branch organization once again joined an initiative supporting the need for physical activity, movement and sports activities. This is also one of the goals of the National Beer Academy of St. Petersburg, which promotes research and practices for a healthy lifestyle.

The heavy rain did not prevent nearly 550 enthusiasts from joining the extreme race of 3 different lengths. The bad weather made the steep and stony routes in the heart of the mountain even more difficult with the ascent to Golyam Tulpan peak, the passage through the Bozhi Most rock-cult complex, the Swan Lakes, the Ustra fortress, but the desire and sportsmanship of the participants helped to overcome the challenges.

First to finish were the winners of the shortest distance of 23 km – Hristo Yordanov (01:43:26) and Antonia Georgieva (02:00:39). At the distance of 53 km, the first are Yordan Todorov (05:42:06) and Slavena Topalska (06:26:00). In the most difficult discipline, 85.3 km, the winners are Rosen Rusev (09:39:49) and Boryana Nikolcheva and Neli Angelova (12:19:01) with the same time.

"SPB's partnership with K3 Ultra Association - initiator of the marathon in Zlatograd - inspired us to participate in another event held within the framework of the National Beer Academy. It is not only an attractive initiative, but also a demonstrative example of the practical stimulation of an active lifestyle," commented the branch organization.

In the spirit of common efforts and with care for the participants of the marathon, the Union of Brewers was able to refresh the competitors with non-alcoholic and traditional beer. In this way, the marathoners were personally convinced that beer hydrates and restores the body after physical exertion. It is no coincidence that scientists often recommend the amber drink as suitable after sports.

As a natural finisher of the ultra marathon in Zlatograd, the leaders in the race received prizes and awards from the organizers and partners. To all children and parents the Union of Brewers distributed gift sets and special information materials promoting the social campaign Sports is the best way for children to grow up. The initiative promotes and popularizes mass sports as a universal preventive practice for adolescents. In the spring of 2020, the campaign was awarded prizes in national competitions for social responsibility.
